Turns out Mike had an eventful morning and had a chance at a very nice buck but just couldn't get a shot. Another hunter killed this buck later and it turns out if was a beautiful eleven point. He did manage to score on a doe as well though so it ended up being a pretty successful day for the two of us. He's not one for getting his picture taken so I had to sneak this one as he was dragging his deer back to the truck.

Well rifle season has been pretty good to me this year. Along with some memorable hunts I get to enjoy the 'fruits of my labor' as well. With a freezer full of venison there is some good eating coming my way. Like pan seared tenderloin and backstraps with onions....

Yes I ate the whole thing. Now that's some good eating!

Not to mention the venison pepperoni......

And of course jerky!

Sadly I didn't get a picture of the venison stew I had last night but some of you might be drooling by now so perhaps it's best I didn't. Maybe in some upcoming posts I'll give out some recipes for this stuff. In any event, life is good! Literally!
Congrats on a successful season, Bill! Love the photos of your dinner. I am thinking venison and onions sounds awesome for lunch! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI am envious of you but it ain't over for me yet. Congrats are definately in order and as i wipe the drool off my monitor after looking at that venison you cooked I get the sudden urge to prepare my gear for Monday.

Congrats to you Bill! That is awesome and someday I hope to say those words- tagged out, but until then I'll just keep huntin'!
ReplyDeleteCongrats again and thanks allot for making me drool on my keyboard... I guess it needed cleaning anyways...
Way to get it done Bill. Sounds like you and your Brother had a great day. Congrats to you and Mike and that venison sure looks tasty.
ReplyDeleteVenison..That's what's for dinner tonight.
Thanks for sharing.

ReplyDeleteCongrats on the successful deer season, Bill!! I am very happy that you were able to share the season with us.
ReplyDeleteThose dishes you've prepared look awesome! Love that pepperoni.
Take care!
Thanks for the kind words all! Dinner was good that day for sure. As of yesterday I finally finished cutting up deer and truthfully I'm kind of glad I'm done with that.
ReplyDeleteHopefully I'll be able to get some trout fishing and small game hunting in during the upcoming weeks.
