Counteracting the Madness

Today I went trout fishing because I needed a day to clear my head of the insanity that life seems to enjoy dishing out anymore. It was a perfect day to be out although it was a bit of a chilly start.

It didn't take long to get into the fish and I enjoyed steady action throughout the day. The brookies dominated the early going and were full of contempt once hooked.

This is NOT what it appears to be. :)

Here and there a brown was thrown into the mix and this one was a nice chunky fish that went about sixteen inches.

Most weren't as large as the one above but it was still a blast hooking up with them. The water was COLD today and all of the fish seemed to have a little more 'umph' in their fight.

By mid-afternoon I sat down just to watch and listen to the water for a bit and have a cup of coffee. The day had been great so far and it's funny how once you start catching fish everything else seems to be cleared from your mind. It's as if all of life's troubles get washed away with the current.

Here we have an ordinary lozenge tin...

Only it's not! With the name how could I not reuse it. LOL It definitely was a fisherman's friend today. Those things work pretty well for coughs too btw.

The day also produced the first 'big' fish of the year. This pig brookie went eighteen inches and was a surprise. Those ones are always the best.

Good numbers of fish and natural beauty everywhere you looked. ;)

A great day to be out and it did wonders for my mental health. It's always nice to just be out on the water but sometimes it helps to have a good numbers day with fish.

Here's to hoping it's a good spring of trout fishing!
